Many artists have been inspired by the landscape of West Penwith. St Just’s celebrated artist and environmentalist Kurt Jackson has a brand new gallery in St Just.

The Penlee Art Gallery in Penzance displays much loved paintings by artists of the ‘Newlyn School’, who came in early nineteenth century, inspired by the area’s spectacular scenery. For modern art, visit the Newlyn Art Gallery and the Exchange. In St Ives there is of course the Tate and the Barbara Hepworth museum and sculpture garden.

There are many local art galleries and craft exhibitions, such as the Morvah School House (in Morvah), and the Maker’s Emporium in St Just.

During end of May/early June, many local artists open their studio to visitors – watch out for the ‘O’-sign for ‘Open Studio’.

Every year during two weeks in August, the Arts & Crafts exhibition is held at Cape Cornwall School in St Just, raising thousands of pounds for Cancer Research.
